Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: In the 9th match of IPL 2023, KKR defeated RCB by 81 runs. In this match, RCB looked helpless in front of KKR.
Kolkata vs Bangalore: The spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and debutant Suyash Sharma wreaked havoc at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs and returned to this ground after four years to register their first win of IPL 2023.
Apart from Shardul Thakur scoring the joint-fastest half-century of the season, Rahmanullah Gurbaj hit a stroke-filled half-century and Rinku Singh scored a crucial 46 to take KKR to a mammoth score of 204/7. After this, the three mystery spinners of Kolkata tricked the RCB batsmen and got them all out for 123 runs in 17.4 overs.
Sunil Narine took two wickets for 16 runs in his four overs. At the same time, Varun Chakraborty sent four RCB batsmen to the pavilion by giving just 15 runs. At the same time, 19-year-old Suyash Sharma took three wickets for 30 runs in four overs in his first match of professional cricket. He made a big impression by throwing 11 dot balls.
Virat Kohli started the chase of 205 and pushed Umesh Yadav's half-volley outside leg stump for four and ended the opening over with another boundary in the gap between third man and backward point.
Virat and Faf du Plessis hit Tim Southee for two fours and as many sixes in the fourth over, scoring 23 runs. But from there the Naren-Chakraborty show started giving sleepless nights to RCB.
Kohli played a cross shot against Naren, but he missed and lost his wicket. In the next over, Faf du Plessis went for a drive against a fuller ball from Chakraborty and was bowled. Chakraborty's sharp googly dismissed Glenn Maxwell in the next over.
Half of the RCB team had returned to the pavilion in just 8.5 overs. Even after this, the RCB batsmen could not play steady and the whole team was bundled out for 123 runs. It would not be wrong to say that the Bangalore batsmen looked helpless in front of the KKR spinners.
